Leadership

The word "leadership" is key in business. There are leaders and there are followers in business. How are your leadership skills?

Are you leading in your industy? Are doing everything it takes to provide excellence, integrity, and great service, everyday?

Sometimes the leaders are not the ones leading the race, right? The leaders out there are the ones that get up everytime they fall, not the ones who crosses the finish line first.

I, personally, have fallen many, many times. But, here is the thing, I keep getting up and fighting and pushing. Life is hard enough without quitting and getting even further behind. Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

If you feel like it hard to keep getting up, try coming to a networking meeting. We are all in a marathon and can feel your pain everytime you fall. We have been there, done that.

The meeting schedule is on the right hand side of this blog. You do not have to RSVP, just show up. We preach about relationships. Sometimes the relationships is what keeps you getting up and running again and again.

Thanks,

Clayton R. Hicks

212 Degrees

212 degrees. That number is a very imprtant one. I realize that most people are going to look at this in a different manner once this has been explained.

Tri-State Business Network is very important to all of us. Tri-State Business Networking group needs to put the heat on its members. What I mean by this, is this:

Come to the meetings, build relationships, build up a referral business, and focus on what you give, not on what you get, and Success will be YOURS!

At 212 degrees water boils, at 211 it does not. How are you running your business? Are you running it at 211 or 212 degrees?

Can you imagine that a 1 degree makes a huge difference in your cash flow and non cash flow. How many of you out there at a degree below the rest?

If you are at 211 degrees, you are falling behind. I realize that you may say, "I am doing my best to find more business, but it is not coming my way, yet."

Keep GIVING, keep PUSHING, keep all of this going right HERE right NOW, push YOUR energy level to the next level. But, you must increase the heat by 1 degree, RIGHT NOW!

TRI-STATE BUSINESS NETWORK GROUP IS HERE FOR YOU!

Winners and Losers Part 2

The difference between a winner and a loser is really just a matter of how you look at circumstances in life and then deal with them. All of us find ourselves on the losing end at some time or another; it's how we cope with failure that determines whether or not we are a winner.

Winners make things happen
Losers watch things happen

Winners know that if a job is worth doing, it's worth doing well
Losers look for the least amount of effort

Winners are always involved in the answer
Losers are always part of the problem

Winners know there is still much to learn
Losers think they know it all

Winners never give up
Losers quit as soon as things get difficult

The following are examples of some of the most successful people in history and their failures:

SIR EDMUND HILLARY wanted to climb Mount Everest and after three failed attempts finally succeeded. People said, "You've conquered the mountain," and Hillary said, "No, I've conquered myself."

HENRY FORD'S first two automobile companies failed. That did not stop him from incorporating Ford Motor Company and being the first to apply assembly line manufacturing to the production of affordable automobiles in the world.

ABRAHAM LINCOLN failed as a storekeeper, as a farmer and at his first attempt to obtain political office. He failed in his first attempt to go to Congress, then again when he sought the appointment to the United States Land Office. He was defeated twice when ran for the United States Senate and failed to receive the nomination for the vice-presidency in 1856.

BILL GATES (a Harvard dropout) first company was a failure. Gates used $3,400 of his own money to start a company called Traf-O-Data, a device to process the paper tapes generated by traffic counting boxes. Eventually, the State of Washington offered free traffic processing services, causing the company to lose money.

LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN, a German composer of classical music, is widely regarded as one of history's supreme composers. Before the start of his career, Beethoven's music teacher once said of him, "As a composer, he is hopeless". And during his career, he lost his hearing, yet managed to produce great music.

Just like the list of greats who stumbled along the way, the message is to keep trying, never giving up and persevering with your dreams. They key is to recognize your shortcomings, improve upon them and develop a winning attitude rather than that of a loser.

Thanks Clay, I had to highlight the part about Abraham....

All the best to everyone, their family, and their success.

Commitment!

Abraham Lincoln had this to say about commitment:

COMMITMENT is what transforms a promise into reality. It is the words that speak boldly of your intentions. And the actions which speak louder than the words. It is making the time when there is none. Coming through time after time after time, year after year after year.

Commitment is the stuff character is made of; the power to change the face of things. It is the daily triumph of integrity over skepticism."

I hope that all of you have some level of commitment to your business, because this blog is designed for you to enjoy the internet marketing that we could all use.

The difference between Winners and Losers!

The difference between a winner and a loser is really just a matter of how you look at circumstances in life and then deal with them. All of us find ourselves on the losing end at some time or another; it's how we cope with failure that determines whether or not we are a winner.

Winners make commitments
Losers make promises

Winner go around or through a problem
Losers never get past it

Winners inspire others
Losers bring down the team

Winners always have a plan
Losers always have an excuse

Winners are proud of their accomplishments
Losers have nothing to brag about

The following are examples of some of the most successful people in history and their failures:

BABE RUTH struck out 1,330 times on his way to 714 home runs and baseball immortality.

In 1954, ELVIS PRESLEY was fired from the Grand Ole Opry after only one performance and was told by the manager. "You ain't going nowhere, son. Better get your job back driving a truck."

When ALBERT EINSTEIN was a boy, his parents thought he was mentally retarded. His grades in school were so poor that a teacher asked him to quit saying, "Einstein, you will never amount to anything!"

Before achieving sports notoriety, MICHAEL JORDAN was just an ordinary person; so ordinary that he was cut from his high school basketball team because of his "lack of skill".

When THOMAS EDISON was a boy, his teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything. When he set out on his own, he tried more than 9,000 experiments before he created the first practical incandescent light bulb

What is even more interesting about Tom Edison is he was asked why did you fail at the light bulb 9 thousand times? He said "I didn't fail 9,000 times, but found 9 thousand ways it didn't work!"

All of us will find ways to cope with the negative attitudes towards success. Ask yourself, "If it was easy everyone would be doing it" Wouldn't they?

I wish you all the best of luck to you, your family, and your success!!!!

Viral Marketing

The Tristate Business Network is a great example of viral marketing.

Wikipedia's definition of Viral marketing and viral advertising refers to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networks to produce increases in brand awareness or to achieve other marketing objectives. Our word-of-mouth presentations and referrals are examples of how networking and viral marketing go hand in hand.

TBN is part of this marketing phenomenon that facilitates and encourages people to pass along a marketing message voluntarily. Catch the enthusiasm! Attending a TBN meeting can help your business get your marketing message out! You may gain new business, and will definately gain new friends in the process.

Congratulations to Clay!

I'm so happy that God gave Clay the vision for establishing the Tri-State Business Network. I'm amazed at the unity of the organization and look forward to ALL of our continued success. Let's strive to make 2008 one of the best years we ALL have ever had in business and edify and uplift one another...so that nothing will be impossible to us. God bless and I will see everyone on the road and at lunch!

Membership

We realize there are many networking groups in the Greater Cincinnati area to choose from. One being ours. We have heard that we are just another social networking group, WE ARE, to a point. We do allow 5 minte commercials to members and 1 presenter for the last week of the month for general information. This month is NETWORKING BY LARRY SHIDELER!

We email to well over 2,500 people twice per week. Yesterday, when I sent the usual email out, we had an unusual 20% open rate within 12 hours. That is pretty impressive for a group that has only been around since April 8.

Now, I realize that not everyone understands how to blog on here, it took me a couple of tries before I got the hang of it. Just follow what it says to do is all I can really tell you, it isn't that difficult. Blogging is the new way of marketing yourself on the internet!

Rules for blogging:

1. Become a TBN Member, once I have your application with check in hand, I will send you and email to confirm you want to become an author.

2. Follow the steps it gives you to create an account

3. Start blogging, I would not suggest more than twice per week.

I did send out invitations yesterday to those that are already paid members of the group.

Happy Blogging and see you at the meetings

Tri-State Business Network Group

The board members of Tri-State Business Network Group, have worker diligently to try to make this group a "parachute" for Greater Cincinnati small business owners, entrepreneurs, sales reps, and marketing professionals.

We believe it is working. We see the groups extending time at the locations we visit. I, personally, have never been to a meeting where the meeting lasts 1 hour and the folks stay for an extra hour building relationships.

We wanted to bring something special to the group, this blogspot.

This blogspot is for YOU, the members. Not only is this going to be great for YOU in the Greated Cincinnati, but this will give a bit of national presence on the net. YOU, can comment on here. YOU, can post an ad about your business for everyone to see anytime.

The only thing that I ask is make sure that you have your contact information and put this blogspot on your personalized emails to make sure everyone knows where to go to talk to you or buy something you have.

If you are a MEMBER, you can post as many times as you would like, if you are not a member, I will be checking this daily. So become a member today, to take advantage of our offerings.
